Pro-LGBTQ+ Singer Infiltrates ‘Hetero Awesome Fest’ And Sings Song About Transgender Man #viralshort
A pro-LGBTQ+ singer infiltrated the straight pride event ‘Hetero Awesome Fest’ in Idaho over the weekend, and sang a song about a transgender man before being removed from the stage 🏳️⚧️
Boise bar owner Mark Fitzpatrick hosted the “Hetero Awesome Festival” on June 20-21, which according to its website « ain’t your limp-wristed woke fest’, but « a full-on celebration of family values with guts ». It was reported by KTVB that only 50 people ended up attending the event.
On Saturday, musician Daniel Hamrick was welcomed to the stage to perform, as seen in videos captured from the festival’s livestream. He arrived in a baseball hat and button-up plaid shirt, but quickly changed on-stage into a t-shirt which read: « Keep Canyon County Queer ». He later put on a jacket with badges including a rainbow heart and the pink triangle, before introducing his first (and only) song « Boy ».
The opening lyrics of the song made it clear this was about a transgender man: « They put him in ballet, he wants to play ball/What matters to him doesn’t matter at all ».
The live feed was cut before the end of Hamrick’s song, and the singer was ushered off stage.
Fitzpatrick told KTVB that Hamrick’s lyrics “go against our values,” and that “the Pride community” are “liars and deceivers [who] victimize children.”
